Ontario

Ontario is the only Canadian province with a fully regulated online casino market. Operators must be registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and contract with iGaming Ontario (iGO), the provincial conduct-and-manage entity. This page covers what that means for players, what to look for in a regulated operator, and where we are with our Ontario-specific picks.

What AGCO regulation means

  • Operators are vetted before launch

Every AGCO-registered operator passes background checks on ownership, anti-money-laundering controls, and game integrity. Game studios supplying the operator are separately registered as Gaming-Related Suppliers. The public list is maintained by AGCO and updated as new operators come online.

  • Player funds are protected

Registered operators must keep player balances in segregated accounts, separate from operating capital. Dispute resolution flows through iGO if you cannot resolve an issue with the operator directly.

  • Self-exclusion is province-wide

Ontario players can self-exclude through the PlaySmart programme, which applies across every iGO-regulated operator at once, a single request blocks you from the entire regulated market, not just one site.

  • Bonus advertising is restricted

AGCO’s Standards prohibit operators from promoting bonuses, free spins, or deposit-match offers in public-facing advertising. Bonus details are only available after you sign up and log in. That is why this site shows no bonus content for Ontario visitors, by design and by rule.

How to verify an operator

Two quick checks any Ontario player can do before depositing.

  1. 01
Look for the iGaming Ontario footer mark

Every registered operator displays an “iGaming Ontario” badge or link in the footer of their site. If it is missing, the site is not part of the regulated Ontario market and is operating offshore.

  2. 02
    Cross-check the AGCO registered-operator list

AGCO publishes a public register of all approved Internet gaming operators. Search for the operator’s legal name. If they are not on the list, they are not licensed in Ontario regardless of what their marketing says.

Our Ontario coverage

Coming soon: curated AGCO operator picks
Our editorial team is reviewing AGCO-registered operators against the same methodology we apply to the wider Canadian market: real-money testing, withdrawal speed verification, support quality, and game catalogue depth. Ontario-specific recommendations will appear here once the review cycle is complete. Until then, the authoritative source is the AGCO register itself.
